PHILLIPPS, Sir Thomas (1792-1872). Antiquary and bibliophile.
A group of deeds relating to property once owned by Phillipps in Gloucestershire, including two documents signed by Phillipps, 1819-1896. Largely relating to a farm at Brockhampton, Snowshill.
1 May 1812, the Hon. John Coventry to Mr William Hyatt: 'Lease for Twenty one years of a Farm and Lands at Brockhampton in the Parish of Snowshill in the County of Gloucester, commencing Lady Day 1812', 3 membranes.
8 October 1819, between Miss Catharine Cotterell and Mrs Sarah Lamley: 'Lease of Premises in the parish of Broadway for 14 years - at Buckland Wood', one membrane, large folio.
23 June 1825, between Robert Newton Lee, Matthew Bancroft Lister and Sir Thomas Phillipps: 'Conveyance of Manor and Farm of Brockhampton in the County of Gloucester', five membranes, large folio.
23 June 1825, between the Hon. John Coventry, Frederick Coventry and Sir Thomas Phillipps: 'Deed of Covenant to produce Deeds in support of the Title of the said Sir Thomas Phillipps to the Manor of Brockhampton and an Estate there belonging called Brockhampton Farm in the County of Gloucester', one membrane, large folio.
25 June 1825, between Sir Thomas Phillipps and Miss Lucy Cotterell of Chipping Camden: Release of land in Broadway, two membranes, large folio, signed by Phillipps and others.
March / April 1843, deed relating to tithe rent charges, with manuscript map of the Great and Little Brockhampton estates.
13 March 1869, between Sir Thomas Phillipps and Benjamin Workman: 'Mortgage of a Manor Farm and lands situate at Brockhampton and Broadway in the County of Gloucester and Worcester to secure £8000 and interest', two membranes, large folio, with complete schedules of the lands in question. Signed twice by Phillipps and by Workman and various witnesses.
18 July 1887, 'The Devisees of Sir Thomas Phillipps Bart. deceased / Declaration by Mr Charles Phillipps, 5 pages folio with two estate maps (pen ink and wash) relating to the text, with a copy of the same deed with one manuscript map.
1 May 1896, William Robert Phillipps to Annie Miriam Phillipps: 'Disentailing Deed by Mr William Robert Phillipps of Farm lands and premises at Brockhampton, Snowshill, Gloucestershire', 2 pages folio on vellum with endorsements, annotated in pencil apparently for a revision.
15 August 1896, between H.E. Tracey-Elliot and Edgar Flower, 'Agreement for reduction on punctual payment of interest on a Mortgage for £6000 secured on hereditaments in the Parish of Snowshill ... formerly the property of Sir Thomas Phillipps Bart.', 2 pages folio with endorsements.
