STANFORD, Sir Charles Villiers (1852-1924). Composer & conductor.
Autograph Letter Signed ('CVS') to an unnamed correspondent, ('Caro'), 3½ pages 8vo (laid down on card), 10 Harvey Road, Cambridge, 10 February 1889. Congratulating his correspondent on passing an exam ('But, bedad, you made it as hard for the examiners as you could with your careless old writing & your omitted accidentals'), and inviting him to come for lessons.
'... Yours was the only one accepted (of 5). ... They both (rightly) stipulate that you should thoroughly revise the work before exam comes on, when Joachim will see it & he is a stickler. ...'
