MARRYAT, Frederick (1792-1848). Novelist and Captain in the Royal Navy.
Autograph cheque signed and addressed to a naval agency, Messrs Stilwell of Arundel Street, 18 March 1826.

Marryat seems to have been frequently short of money, despite a generous inheritance and large sums made from his novels. He drew cartoons when in need of ready cash, which were made into etchings by his friend George Cruikshank.
